Thought on installation procedure

Post by john.mckown »

The Co:Z installation procedure for the Co:Z Batch/Launcher/Data Set Pipes asks for the LOADLIB and SAMPJCL in which to install the product. One thing it does is create sample JCL in the SAMPJCL library. Now, the example JCL references COZUSER.COZ and says to change it. Since the installation process already knows the names of the LOADLIB and SAMPJCL, why not consider changing them "on the fly" as the members are created? It appears that these members are in the "sampjcl" subdirectory. So a short "awk" or "sed" program should be able to change them before they are copied into the PDS. It would be even simpler if IBM would implement the "-i" switch like GNU's sed to do an "inplace" update.

Or am I just too lazy for my own good?
