is not a symbolic link. remove and create new link? Ýy(es), n(o)¨

Post by DianaAsencio »

I dont see this error/statement documented.
Enter PATH directory in which to create command symlinks or 'none' (/usr/local/bin):
/usr/local/coz511/bin
'/usr/local/coz511/bin/catsearch' is not a symbolic link. remove and create new link? Ýy(es), n(o)¨

is this expected?
should i reply y(es) ?
Please advise.
thanks

It appears that you are trying to create symlinks to the executables on top of the actual files.

The idea with creating symlinks is that you might have the executables installed in /usr/local/coz511/bin, but you could create symlinks to the commands in /usr/local/bin. If /usr/local/bin were in your default PATH, then these symlinks would eliminate the need to add /usr/local/coz511/bin to the PATH for users.

If this doesn't make any sense, please ask a z/OS Unix person at you installation for advice on how they would prefer to install the product and manage user paths.

Thank you for the response. I more question, do symlinks change with each version?
