LOAD object support pre 5.5.0

Post by 0c4 »

What support existed for transferring PDSE Load Objects utilizing Co:Z prior to 5.5.0? The below documentation from a 6.2 manual states that starting with 5.5.0, dsget/dsput were introduced to make it 'easier'. That suggests it was possible to transfer load objects in earlier releases. Is it possible to utilize a pre 5.5.0 release (5.1.1 for example) to transfer load objects? What was the mechanism utilized to move load objects if not supported by put/get commands?
NOTE: Starting with Co:Z version 5.5.0, two new commands dsget and dsput were introduced to
make it easier to transfer data sets between two z/OS systems running Co:Z. See the section called “Transferring
Datasets Between Co:Z Systems”. Note that dsget and dsput can be used to transfer program objects between z/OS
systems, something that is not supported with the standard get and put commands.

There was no support for transfer of load modules / program objects prior to 6.0.0.

Below are excerpts from the release notes found here: https://dovetail.com/docs/cozinstall/changes.html

Co:Z Toolkit 5.5.0
"Two new commands have been added to the cozsftp client: dsget and dsput. These commands simplify the transfer of a sequential (PS) z/OS data set between the local z/OS system and a remote z/OS system running the Co:Z SFTP Server."

Co:Z Toolkit 6.0.0
"The Co:Z SFTP dsget and dsput have been enhanced to support the transfer of partitioned data sets. Using this feature makes it possible to transfer Program Objects between z/OS systems, something that is not possible with the standard SFTP get and put commands. This feature includes support for both PDS and PDSE."

Co:Z Toolkit 6.2.0
"Updated the dsget and dsput commands to support individual members of partitioned data sets (both PDS and PDSE). The previous version of these commands only supported the transfer of a entire data set. "
