The SSH client cannot be run under OMVS

Post by Tor Benterud »

I'm a newbie, just downloaded and installed the Co:Z Toolkit.
Since I don't run the sftp server, I jumped right to chapter 4, "Using the Co:Z z/OS sftp client". Here's what I get when doing 4.1:

# export PATH=/usr/local/bin:$PATH
# cozsftp Mitsubishi@65.243.39.168
Co:Z SFTP version: 1.7.8 (5.0p1) 2011-01-17

Connecting to 65.243.39.168...
The SSH client cannot be run under OMVS
Ý85.827¨ Connection closed
#

Did I miss something?
I'm on z/OS 1.9.

Its silly, but IBM doesn't allow their Ported Tools ssh command (which Co:Z SFTP uses) to be run in a TSO OMVS session.

To use an interactive ssh or sftp session, you have to log into a Unix shell using TTY Telnet or SSHD. The Windows PuTTY client will work with either.

But you can run it under a batch job. See the RUNSFTP or RUNSFTPK members of the SAMPJCL library for examples.
