Install Issue with 1.9.0

Post by Donald Stubbs »

I downloaded coz-1.9.0.bin to my XP workstation and then copied the file to my home directory on z/OS with an SMB share of my exported USS root file system.

The first copy to z/OS was via copy and paster using Windows Explorer; the 2nd time was performed with using the "COPY /B" command.

In both cases, I received the below error with attempting to execute the self-extracting installer.

CCTS026:/home/CCTS026: >chmod 755 coz-1.9.0.bin
CCTS026:/home/CCTS026: >./coz-1.9.0.bin
./coz-1.9.0.bin 69: FSUM7332 syntax error: got (, expecting Newline

I have circumvented the problem by using FTP to transport the file from my workstation to my home directory on USS.

To verify that the file was uploaded in binary (without conversion of any kind), do the following command from a z/OS Unix shell:

> cksum coz-1.9.0.bin
3093313626 11215567 coz-1.9.0.bin

You should see the same result as above for the checksum and file size.

If this is OK, then it might be possible that your current charset or locale is causing the shell script included in the self-extracting installer to have problems.

Try running the installer after setting this:

export LC_ALL=C

No need to since I have already completed the installation.

The root of the issue is how DFS is customized on my z/OS system.
