impertinent / curiousity question.

Post by john.mckown »

This is just my own nosy curiousity. The dataset utilities (fromdsn & todsn) which run on Intel have the source available. But the corresponding utilities on z/OS do not. I'm wondering why? My only guess is that the code contains something that is copyrighted by someone else.

The z/OS modules are not open source, although they are available under a binary Apache 2 license.

The code for distributed systems is completely open source. We make binary packages available for selected systems, but anyone can take the source and build/port it to their platform.

The code and licenses/copyrights for the z/OS code is all ours, but we haven't chosen to release it as open source at this time.
