Installation question - replacing existing install overlays

Post by DClassic53 »

The Co:Z install process is quick and painless for the first time user or someone who is allowed to overlay an existing install with new code. For someone who needs to install into separate maintenance locations before moving components into production locations (install path, LOADLIB), you can override those during the install and then relocate then when ready. The symlinks can also be placed into a test location, but those symlinks point to the maintenance install path. Suggestions?

You can install the new "maintenance" version is a maintenance location and *not* install symlinks to it (by responding "none" to the installer prompt).

For testing the maintenance code, you can put the maintannce bin directory in front of your PATH.

Then, when you move the maintenance code to production locations, you won't have to touch the existing symlinks.
